Russian crew films epic at Fort Ross
Fort Ross Epic film's crew visits U.S. to shoot at historic outpost A Russian movie company wrapped up filming a multimillion-dollar epic at Fort Ross on the Sonoma County coast Wednesday, a film the Russians hope will turn history on its ear. The movie features time travel, pirates, revolution, intrigue, Indian attacks, romance, a beautiful heroine in a miniskirt, a magical iPhone, Mission San Rafael, Czar Nicolas I, the Russian marine corps and the Golden Gate Bridge. "Parts of it will look a bit like 'Indiana Jones,' " he said, citing the American adventure films starring Harrison Ford and various villains. The film crew spent four days in Northern California. Besides Fort Ross, they filmed on the Golden Gate Bridge and at San Francisco International Airport. Suddenly, it's 1820 and next thing you know they find a pirate ship and a motley crew of evildoers about to attack the Russian fort only to be thwarted by brave Russian marines and Pomo Indians.
